2009 Car Show Results

By Vern Parker

Thanks to several generous sponsors the Street Dreams invitational antique car show was a successful free event on September 6, the Sunday before Labor Day.

A total of 90 spectacular old vehicles ranging from a 1911 Chase owned by Douglas Tomb to a 1984 Oldsmobile owned by Chad Coombs were on display for the enjoyment of the many spectators at the Spring Hill Recreation Center in McLean, Va.Antiques from France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy and Japan were represented as well as American cars.

The weather could not have been any better for the annual event.  An "Owner's Choice" award determined by balloting went to a black 1936 Lincoln V-12 owned by Rick Parker.  The voting spectators selected a 1981 DeLorean owned by Wyatt Rinker as the recipient of the "People's Choice" award.

Those at the car show, which is free to the public, have to thank the support provided by Brooke Rental Center, Capitol Cadillac, Country Chevrolet, EuroMotors, Falls Church Auto Body, Hagerty Cars That Matter and Preston Signs.

Volunteers who made the show appear effortless include Brian Armstead, Dave Blum, Franklin Gage, Scott Parker, Amy Tobias, Bill Tricarico, Dick Tufts and Dan Whalen.
